No amount of worrying about the future can change the future and no amount of over analyzing the past can change the past. One will just create anxiety, while the other will create a state of depression. Regardless of how much we think about these things, we can not change the past and we can not control the future.
People who are struggling with anxiety are stuck in a state of thinking ahead and focusing too much on the future, the what ifs? The reality being the future is not a guarantee so you need to figure out the present and when the future comes figure it out. Trust me you will!
People who are struggling with depression are stuck in a state of thinking about the past, their regrets and trying to change things that have already been done. Every choice we make, every step we take is a part of our story. Although we might not like every aspect of our story, we have to own it and embrace it. We have to absorb it into who we are as people in the present day, so that it does keep us stuck in the past. Accept that we are human and in being human we are going to make mistakes. Some will be big, some will be small, but we will ALL make mistakes.

LIVE. present! Just live in the here and now. This is the ONLY place you have any control. If you don't like your job, find a different one. You have the right to make this change at any point in your life. If you don't like your housing situation, change it. If your relationship is struggling, change it. Don't dwell on the past, where you are stuck or the what ifs of the future. Make the changes you need to find yourself, and figure the rest out as you go. Human beings are resourceful by nature and they will figure out everything they need to in order to survive.
